The First Governor - General of Pakistan 1947 - 1948

The First  Governor - General of Pakistan 1947 - 1948 is a compendium of rare and not so rare photographs, positively attributed to Mr. Jinnah's official photographer, Ziauddin Barni, from the collection of his granddaughter Zareen Baqir.

Curated by the Mohatta Palace Museum in collaboration with Dawn Media, to commemorate Pakistan's 75th anniversary year, the exhibition captures many but not all the high moments of Mr. Jinnah's stewardship of the new nation of Pakistan.

Some photographs have never been seen before and others are part of the national iconography of Mr. Jinnah, but not attributed to Ziauddin Barni.

The Quaid-e-Azam is seen during the early episodes that marked his return to Karachi from 7 August 1947. The exhibition culminates in a moving series of images of Mr. Jinnah's bier from his residence at the Governor- General House to his final resting place at the current Quaid-e-Azam Mazaar.
